La marca de productos para peluquería TRESemmé dio comienzo en 1947 en Missouri, Estados Unidos de la mano de Edna Emmé, una profesional de este sector. Su nombre es una traducción fonética de “bien amado” en francés: Très-aime. Inicialmente sus productos sólo se comercializaron para profesionales, es decir, en salones de belleza. Pero en el año 1968, la marca pasó a formar parte de Alberto Culver, los cuales, viendo el éxito que la marca tenía, comenzaron a distribuirlo en algunos supermercados y parafarmacias.
